I will tell Dad for you. He enjoyed the talk too. He likes that sort of thing....He's too smart for his own britches sometimes, but don't tell him that I told you!
If anyone wants to talk about that sort of thing just start a new post and he would be glad to jump in there.....

That's funny. I have heard that too. Those 2 things are his favorites, especially religion. He is very knowledgeable in that area. His favorite subject has always been history so he shines there too. DO not ever ask him to set up your VCR though!! Bad idea! That or computers, the man sucks! Ask him to defrag and you may never be able to turn it on again! '<img'>

Hmm Darn a fellow historian ':)'

I got a BA in International Studies/History (it features 24 Credit Hours requirement of Foreign Languages.)

I have studied many different time periods of history and many different subjects.

On the Iraqi War I support Bush, Have a nephew who is 19 in iraq and my brother just got deployed there last month. He sent me a couple of pics from there.

AS for what they are doing there my brother just wrote me about how he was helping a young Iraqi Buy who had been hit by a truck. (my brother is a medic over there) He was proud to be there and helping Iraqis.

Sadaam is gone and thats not a bad thing. Maybe now Iraq can be rebuilt and the Iraqis will be better off.

That is what we should focus on. If Iraqi can remain free then everything wil be worthwhile. We will have turned an enemy into a freind and gotten rid of one very bad dictator.

I completely agree. Unfortunatley I think that things are going to go downhill in that area of the world, heck..all over the world! I think that it is good that Saddam is out of there, needed to happen a long time ago. I think that there is someone else right behind him who is just as bad or worse, maybe even in another country who knows. I am generally an optimist but not when it comes to what I consider "end time events"

Gemaedhi

I am not familiar with the Cropy boys ... who are they?  As for my country invading Ireland, that was a very long time ago.  It must be noted that Ireland got their own back (something which tends to be forgotten over here when it suits them).

It was around the time of Oliver Cromwell that Engalnd really invaded ireland.  Can't remember the exact year, but the English and Scots moved over here and tried to banish the Irish from their own country.

In 1641, a place called Portadown became the venue for revenge.  10,000 English and Scots were shepherded into the river there and were attacked with pitchforks when they tried to get out.  The result was that they either drowned or got stabbed to death.  Kinda evens up the score a bit, don't ya think?  As I say, that is conveniently forgotten about when it suits.

How in the hell do you "shepherd" 10,000 individuals into the water at the same time.  '<img'>

I couldn't even get my kids to get in the car when I needed them too.

BTW Bill:   God bless you and your family and thank you and I agree with everything you said.   I will continue to pray for the safety of your family members.

well have to have faith in people.

Some in Iraq have been taught since birth to hate Americans. So is no secret they would not like us there.

However freedom has a way of changing minds. In the short run there will be strong feelings against us. But for Example we bombed Japan with A bombs and heavily bombed Germany. While things might not be perfect between us and them we can say they are more a freind than a foe.

The hard part now is facing down those that dont care about human life. During WII Japanese pilots flew their planes into US ships (The Kamakazes) In a months time more than 5,000 US Sailors died on board warships off Okinawa many of them burning to death or suffocating from fire.

But they stayed the course. The Sailors and Marines and army soldiers kept on fighting even though many of their freinds had died. no we have enemies that blow themselves up with car bombs and chop peoples heads off they capture.

But we saw that before and beat it. In the End the Iraq people themselves will want to be a peace. Iraq has been at war almost the entire time Sadaam was in Power (he became Iraq's president in 1979. In 1980 he invaded Iran) Then he invade Kuwait. and the current war. After almost 20 years of war and strife I think they will want war to end.
