"The pilot - a plane person with an air about him"

« Reply #136 on: June 24, 2004, 03:37:42 AM »

Firstly, welcome to the conversation S.Mom's hubby.  Have to admit that I am not well up on your country's politics either ... I can only go off what I have seen on the TV and it is usually only half the story.

As for what Bush is doing to your country, it sounds exactly the same as what is happening in Britain ... immigrants, job out-sourcing, run by a "higher" body.  Whilst this country is  British soil, it is Europe who like to think that they own it through the European Union.  Despite what any politician says (as we all know they are full of bullsh!t anyway), it is France and Germany that are running the EU.  As far as I'm concerned, they have tried several times through war and have got beat ... now they are trying it through politics.

In terms of America stepping in to WW2, if I remember rightly, it was Britain who asked for your help ... you did not do this of your own accord.  However, it must be noted that you got the German scientists and technicians after the war.  What nationality was the man who first invented the rocket engine that ultimately led to space technology?  What nationaliy was the scientist who invented the neutron bomb used in Hiroshima?

Obviously, a bad choice of words as I'm only 24, but if I "remember rightly", it was Germany and France who attacked Britain ... not vice versa.

It was not just Scotland, Ireland, etc who England attacked.  The British commonwealth was the largest ever known ... I believe it was even bigger than the Roman Empire and some of it still exists today.  However, I think what happened in Medieval times should be left there ... it was a different type of war ... a war of bows and blades, not guns and bombs.

To the best of my knowledge, America was a British colony.  The white inhabitants decided that they didn't want to be ruled by Britain, so they had the war of Independence.  You are quite right ... we did get our arses kicked, but only as you used Indians as your allies.  Please tell me when the second time was, cos to the best of my knowledge, we never "invaded" America at all ... just settled there.

Could that secretive entity you talked about be the UN or NATO?  The immigrant thing could also be Bush trying to copy Blair ... "we do not racially discriminate against other countries, so therefore our country is an open door".  Maybe they both hope that this approach will stop Al-Queda, etc from attacking us, as they will have their own countrymen living there as free people.

Thank you for the welcome '<img'> I love discussing this sort of thing! I asked a couple of guys in Kosovo about crumpets too and they had the same problem explaining it as you did! I'll just call it a fig newton, "because it is not a cookie" (must say this with your accent for full effect!) lol  '<img'>
You can't ever go by what the news says as it is going to tell you only what the government wants you to know. As far as WW2 and England asking for America's help, I agree, on the same lines as the Kurds have been asking for help since the 1991 Gulf War. I still don't see a difference between the genocide that we have stepped into with Iraq, Bosnia, and Nazi Germany, why is Iraq less important? (When Britian asked for help, even though Germany declared war on the USA as being considered part of an axis with Japan and Italy, we came.) So why should we not come to help the Kurds in this same regard as they have asked for our help?
As far as the scientists: The man who first invented the rocket engine did so while in the employment of Nazi Germany and incorporated it in the V2 rocket program. Yes Einstein was of German descent...what bearing does this have? During WW2 it was Germany, not France that attacked England as France had been attacked by Germany soon after they attacked Poland at the beginning of the war.
So you agree that Scotland and Ireland have been oppressed by the British. But I don't think that it can be left in Midieval times because of the hatred that continues between the English and the Irish.... If you want one a little more recent with bombs and guns, how about South Africa 1879 when the British were defeated by a Zulu tribal army carrying spears. Didn't the British also have some endeavors in India? How about Hong Kong?
America started when people fled England to get away from the religious persecution of the government in order to set up a Christian nation. The English followed them and forced a colonization upon them. The French and Indian wars in the 1760s was the most the British saw of native American warfare employed against the crown. (America was involved but fought WITH the British). American indians were not used near as extensively in the American Revolution (or American Rebellion as the British call it). It was American frontier living and fighting skills learned from the indians that helped to defeat the British.
The second time that the British were defeated started with British seizure of American merchant vessels and the shanghai of their crews. This led to the War of 1812.
The British have never settled in America, they were sent by the crown to colonize and govern.
This secret entity that I referred to was probably started somewhere within the UN or NATO and I don't know exactly what to call them, but I believe that they are responsible for the Euro being introduced as well as being in control of 90+%  of the way that money  is spent all over the world. I think that they are partially responsible for the fall of the Berlin wall and the Soviet Union.
I do agree with you that oil is involved in the current conflict in Iraq. I also think that you will see a town approximately 20 miles south of Bagdad become a very important capital on the world scene and could possibly be the center of this "entity". It may take 20 years (keep watching the news), you are young enough to see this happen.
The open door policy is what America has been based on. Some wish that the door would close!

I know that Germany attacked the French in WW2 and we helped them out ... I was actually refering to the Napoleonic War when France attacked the English... oops.

That place 20 miles south of Baghdad ... was that the same place that Saddam was found in the bunker??? Can't remember the name, but its something like Tikrit(?).  It was Saddam's hometown, anyway.  Am I on the right place?

Just to pull fault on one aspect of your post though ... and it is something that most "internationals" mistake on (I am also guilty of it at times, too).  The United Kingdom is made up of England, Wales and Scotland.  Great Britain is made up of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.  It was the English who oppressed Scotland and Ireland (ever seen Braveheart?) centuries ago and you are quite right in saying that hatred has carried on since then.

As for the Zulu campaign, I am a firm believer that the English officers were too full of themselves to respect their enemy.  They also sat down to massive dinners whilst the soldiers endured nights and days of hunger.  So called "Officers and Gentlemen".  Personally, I call them upperclass Wank£r$.

Excuse me guys.........hate to butt in here ....love reading your words but..........

Wasn't it President Bill Clinton that FIRST....downsized our Military and cut the spending drastically.   He was solely responsible for closing down a multitude of military bases and leaving us with a "skelton crew."
How can you possibly blame this on Bush?
  And SurvivorDad    hehe
Please tell me that you are not going to vote for Kerry who has voted and campaigned against his own COUNTRY in full view of the whole world.
As with Bill Clinton....my son would never follow Kerry as his commander and chief.

Wow........Survivor Mom's hubby sure is a history buff..and I might add very interesting reading your posts.  '<img'>

I shudder to think what will happen if Kerry gets voted in  '<img'>

I don't know a military man or woman who does not love and respect President Bush.  And we all have to remember that man walked into a hornet's nest when he took office.  I would love to see what he could have accomplished if he had not had to deal with 911.  But, I guess we will never know.

I'm ex-military and I DO NOT love Bush, even being a fellow Texan.  I respect his office, but I don't respect some of the things he has done while in that office.  I know it's a very hard job, EVEN WITH all of the advisors, so I would have to say he's probably doing the best job he can.  I wonder if there will ever be a President (or any political officer for that matter) who will ever satisfy everyone.   '<img'>

Not as long as everyone stays "die-in-the-wool" Dem or Rep.  No matter what their man or party does.........it's ok.
To point fingers and look for nothing but failures just because their man didn't get voted in is absurb.
Our main goal no matter what party you are is for the best of our Country and it's citizens.
I'm very sorry, but I can't understand how ANYONE...no matter what party they are, can even consider voting a man in office that openly demonstrated against his country, and is trying to pass himself off as a "hero" with Medals of Honor, for a scratch on his arm.   Who has voted down every bill that would support our Military in any way.  And you want him as our "Commander in Chief?"
To tell you the truth...I can't wait for the "debates" to start.  And everyone should truly and wholly listen to them and judge each man on knowledge, intellegence and honesty...setting party's aside.  Now is the time for everyone to vote for the best of the citizens not just because they are Dem or Rep.
Kerry has alot to explain to me up front with his lying about his medals and turning his back on his fellow soilders and Country and the way he has voted in the Senate before he ever gets out of the gate.
The debates should be very interesting

Hate to bring some terrible wit to this conversation, as it's so interesting ...

Maybe Clinton had to cut the spending elsewhere to pay for that Monica Lewinsky racket ... we all know how he "splashed out" on her dresses ... '<img'>

J, No, the town that I am referring to is not Tikrit, but Babylon. Saddam Hussein has spent 30 Billion dollars in its complete restoration since 1979. As for the Zulu campaign, the British and every other nation is guilty of this. Until Afghanistan I have seen officers in our own military throw soldiers under the proverbial bus for favors with higher ranking officers, for medals, recognition, etc. During Afghanistan numerous bronze stars were handed out to 1st Sergeants and Platoon leaders (Lieutenant) simply for being in a position of leadership while the actions of lower enlisted went virtually unnoticed. So yeah, we have w@nker$ here too!
Alright Little Texas! PLEASE DON'T put ME in with the Clinton supporters. I think that he was the worst president in American history '<img'>  and shame on the American people for allowing him to do the things that he did in our House and stay in office! NO, I am not going to vote for Kerry either. '<img'>  He rides the fence on too many issues and will say anything that you want to hear in order to get into office. I am looking into the US Constitution Party for my vote.
Lionslady....As far as Bush walking into a "hornet's nest," too many things can't be explained for me to firmly believe that no one knew of the impending 9/11 attacks before they happened.
