After being unfortunately unsuccessful (partly) with it last season, I thought I'd come back and try it again this season. For now, I'll get started with some intro analysis. Feel free to join in anytime if you want. Just remember folks, this is spoiler free.

EDIT: Oh, and you can find the intro here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpuZBy4wzzM

Jalapao:

Spencer: It looks like he's either running or being pushed prior to his close up. Could signify him being a follower/pushover?

Sydney: Looking tired/dazed in the rain, possibly meaning that she gets left out of things in her tribe.

Joe: Basic smile, followed by a frustrated/concerned look. Could mean nothing special, or could mean him being on the losing end of some bigger picture.

Carolina: Running, then shown sort of alone in the jungle. The animal imagery beforehand seemed like it signaled her opening her mouth too much at the wrong time, leading to her being booted.

Stephen: Having some almost sort of "praise the lord!" type well...not sure what to call it shot, followed by him working on the shelter. For what it's worth, the last person with a shelter shot like that was Ken in Gabon.

Sandy: Basic smile, then looking worried. Nothing special unless they're doing a "good to bad" thing.

JT: Imagery of a jaguar snarling and licking it's chops, followed by him giving a similar look which is then followed by a sort of determined one. Doesn't take his eyes off the prize?

Taj: Looking worried, then struggling to rip something off (bark? palm frons?). Not sure what it means but probably isn't good.

Timbira

Debbie: Shot of a bird flying, followed by her outstretching her arms like she's riding the wind. Basic walking shot follows. Not quite sure what to make of the whole thing, but it looks like it's probably good.

Jerry: Shot of a crocodile nearing the water which has 2 shots of him looking worried following it, doesn't uh...seem positive for him.

Sierra: Her running through the rain looking either frustrated, or upset, which has another shot of her upset after it. Seems kind of Kimmi or Michelle Chase like, for what it's worth. Though...seems different somehow.

Coach: Throwing a palm fron with ease followed by him looking serious. Sort of similar to Todd's shot from China. Probably bodes well, I'm thinking.

Tyson: Shows a hawk(?) grabbing a fish out of the water, which is followed up by a shot of him rising out of the water (i.e. obviously making the hawk represent him). It seems almost Rob Cesternino-ish. Which as we all know, would probably be really good...for most of the game, lol.

Erinn: Looking worried then smiling a bit, nothing really uh...special here.

Brendan: Walking looking worried, then a clip of him looking like he feels kinda down.

Candace: Looking beat in the rain, then looking at the camera almost asking for help. Doesn't seem that good.

Notes:

- Spencer and Candace are the first and last people in the intro, over 17 previous seasons NOBODY in those positions has ever won.

- Most of the shots that could be potentially seen as negative appear to come from Timbira. Could that mean that they're in the post-merge minority?

- There also seems to be sort of like something tying Tyson and Coach together. I get the feeling one of them takes the other out, but not sure who just yet.

- Another thing of note about the intro. Out of all the seasons, the only winner who had an intro shot coming from a challenge was (arguably depending on who you ask) Danni, so take it for what it's worth.

I thought this season's intro didn't help much at all. Meanwhile I thought Micronesia's deliberately had Parvati last every episode even though they changed things. And she looked so devious.

I think it's one of those "either helps a lot or not at all" intros, as opposed to the "it'll help a bit for sure" ones. And well, whether you like him or hate him, you gotta admit Tyson's got a damn good intro shot.

Another thing I noticed is how the big theme of the first episode seemed to be focusing on the polar opposites of Sierra and Sandy. Like the initial focus on how Sandy seemed clueless in finding the Idol, and how the tribe as a whole (minus a person or 2) seemed annoyed/disappointed that she hadn't been working on the shelter. On the other hand, with Sierra, everybody but Coach (who even admitted he was impressed) seemed amazed that Sierra had built the entire shelter by herself. Many of them even stated that they felt they had misjudged and underestimated her. It could well be showing Sierra doing much better in her tribe ultimately than Sandy does in hers. Also, it should be noted that both Sandy and Stephen thought they could outlast the other and they both had the first confessionals of the season. As well, should be pointed out that Stephen's essentially listed 3 people he doesn't feel he'll get along with, Sandy, and the "2 good ol southern boys" (which would be Joe and JT).

Spencer

Puts effort in, heavily involved in the game. May pull a few "fan" moves (3,2,1 voting system, etc).

Sydney

Gets lost in the game somehow. Over confident? Love her eyes, by the way.

Joe

Not a big mover or shaker as much as he appears like Colby v2.

Carolina

Loved her intro shots. Tries hard and invested into camp life (by constantly mentioning that this and that need to be done).

Sandy

First shot, she's drenched. Struggles a bit (to fit into the group, eg. type-casted as older woman who can't do nuts)? Manages to fit into the group, maybe being the mom figure.

Stephen

Does better than he imagines himself to?

JT

Isn't where he expects himself to be (eg alliance-wise, maybe challenge wise)?

Taj

Has to try very hard to stay in the game as likable as she seems?
Logged

Parvati (votes Coach Dub.): What do they call the girl who slayed the Dragonslayer?

Jasen777: I'd guess "Sandra."

Debbie

One of those with rather nice intro shots (especially her diving into the water!). I think she does well. Her shots seems rather positive as Cestriano put it. Perhaps she may do very well. She seems to be soaring as like the bird in the shot before her. Purposeful comparisson?

Jerry

May not do so well. If he does, it won't be easy (on the outside of the main block?).

Sierra

Fights hard to stay in the game (and change her first impression).

Tyson

If I'm not wrong, his is the only profile close-up shot. Interesting... Rises to the challenge physically (as depicted by rising out of the water).

Erinn

Takes awhile to find her place in the game.

Coach

Big contributor to the game? May shake things up some.

Brendan

Takes awhile to find his place, but eventually does. Similar to Erinn.

Candace

Game overwhelms her. She will not make it very far.

PS:
Erinn's first impressions was that she was bitchy (per Tyson; brunette girl may be the bitch), not too fantastic (per vote from Brendan). She may have to fight a slightly negative first impression.

Nice vidcaps. Also, if you look closely at Coach's second shot, you'll notice a blond girl just walking out of camera view at the very beginning (you can only really see the blond hair). Also, his shot is right after Sierra's so....might that mean something?
