Its life, Live it!

« on: April 27, 2009, 11:34:06 AM »

Has anyone been keeping up on the news about this new strain of flu? My Yahoo home page always has a headline talking about it and just a few minutes ago, the Pres. was talking about it on the news!

A couple over in the next state have it according to reports on the news. Strange how people here are not dying from it and they are in Mexico.

Kinda reminds me of Stephen King's 'The Stand".

Anyone have any thoughts on this subject out there?? '<img'>

I'm not exactly panicking.  The sad truth is that healthcare in Mexico is not as good as it is in the States, and the same likely applies to living conditions.   I might pay a little more attention to a cold just in case it was something more serious, but odds are that plenty of cases of swine flu will go un-noticed, with people not even realising that's what they had.

Basically, I think all this fear-mongering from the media is irresponsible and exploitative.  We should recognise and help the problem in Mexico, but I'm not expecting a real life version of the movie 'Outbreak'.

No panick here, just concern. I work in a Laboratory setting so my interest is piqued naturally. Just wondering what was being said in other areas of the country or world where other forumily members live.

And yes the media does go too far at times. As for 'Outbreak' in reality....I don't see it either and never want to.

I see the ones in authority kind of running in circles about this. I just hope if anything does have to be done that politics does not get in the way of letting health organizations do what they have to do in the long run.

Heard San Antonio schools have already closed down.  Seems people who have been to Mexico recently are the ones that are bringing it back here to US.

Said on the news today that decisions would be made Friday.  What the heck does that mean?  Schools??  Said something about having enough water and supplies to last a week incase schools are let out and people aren't suppose to shop or go into crowds.  Are they trying to scare us or inform us?  Big difference.

Just glad my brother had his crud last week instead of this week.  He would have been scared to death.  Big thing they keep saying is......fever...fever of over 100.5, muscle aches, vomiting, diahrea.   Hello!!!!  those are flue symptoms.

Said the flu shots we all took this year won't touch it.  It's an actual pig virus.  People in Mexico live in close quarters with their animals and that's exactly where they got this stuff.

Here we go again!!!   If only they will not let the news media run amuck with this stuff and scare the s**t out of us it will be tolerable.

It's similar to that Bird (flu) thing we had earlier, nothing more nothing less.

It's a bug it's a bug,. if one comes out that we should be scared of, the gov can't do much about it anyway.

We are due for a true pandemic as a rule of thumb, but this ain't it!

I'm not panicking. Hell, nobody was until Fox "News" and CNN declared it a "Global Pandemic". They went as far to cover all of Canada red on their "warning" map metre thing since we had 6 MILD incidents of it. SIX....throughout like what, a country of 35 million+ people that has the second largest country land mass in the world? That hardly seems reason to worry as John Stewart so humourously said.
