CAST: Pre-Season Picks and Predictions

Thought this would be a better place to put this. First look at the cast! Who are your favourites? Least favourites? Who do you think will run the game? Or bury themselves early? Can't wait to see more videos and get a better overall look. Here's Dalton's first post on the cast for the newest season of your favourite reality show, 'Survivor: Philippines'.

Here's my two picks. The second one is just based on rooting for an underdog who seems down to Earth.

But I think that Malcolm kid is the only one to actually have a mind for any real bold strategy. Hopefully I'm right! Have to have at least one smart strategic player in the season.

Pete, Malcolm and Dawson all stand out to me as smart strategists.  And of course, Jonathan Penner, who is perhaps a good example of how the strategists this season might fare... They might well trip themselves up in their enthusiasm to play the game hard.  Dawson seems a little too disorganised, but that might help her since she'll probably be underestimated, and she's certainly charming enough.  Malcolm comes across as the used car salesman type, so I'm not sure he'll get away with his schemes.  Pete is probably over-confident, but he's also so calmly logical about his strategy, that I'm keeping my eye on him!

The other newbies who stand out to me as ones who could go far are RC and Denise.  RC because she seems to know the game pretty well and she swam the English Channel which is incredibly gruelling (no, I've not done it, but I once knew a guy who did!)  Denise because of her job, because she said she practised making fire, and because she's another long term fan of the game--though as a woman over 40, even though she looks pretty athletic, she's automatically targetted for the boot.  I'm hoping she's going to be like Dawn in terms of her fitness levels.

I'm curious to see how Roxy fares, since I think an army chaplain could possibly have a very good skill-set for Survivor.  Carter, Dana and Artis were the other stand-outs for me in the new cast.  And I used to love the Facts of Life, so I'm rooting for Lisa, even if I don't think she has a prayer!

I watched Australia over the summer, from which I learned that Michael Skupin is basically a bit of a nutcase, and I'm dying to see what he's like ten years on.  I've always been a huge fan of Jonathan, and while I wasn't particularly interested in Russell returning, I was pleasantly surprised by his video, and I actually think he might have the best chance of winning out of the returning players.

My winner picks so far are probably Pete, RC and Denise...  I keep going back and forth over who I think has the best chance.

While I roll my eyes at the beauty pageant contestants and fear Zane's fondness for Brandon, I'd say this is actually a very promising cast.  Really looking forward to the season!
