Kourtney Moon, the 29 year old Mechanic from Texas, described herself as creative, scatter-brained and impulsive. In the opening moments of the show, when asked by Jeff Probst where is she thinks she fits in with the women's group. “Nowhere”, Kourtney replies. “Is that a good thing or a bad thing?”, Jeff asks. “I wanna make it a good thing”, says Kourtney. Buring the trek to their camp, Kourtney already wasn't fitting in with the rest of the women. As Chelsea, Alicia, Sabrina, Kat, and Kim form a strong alliance of 5.

Day 2 at the reward/immunity challenge, the contestants must navigate an obstacle course. The first part involves them leaping from a platform and landing in a net below. Jeff warns, “Keep your arms in and land on your backs.” First Nina faceplants into the net and bloodies her face. Then its Kourtney's turn to jump and she falls hard on her hand. Jeff reminds them to keep their hands to their chest. Kourtney nursing her hand struggles to complete the first leg of race and complains about her wrist.

During the second leg of the race Jeff notices Kourtney sitting on the deck clutching her hand. Jeff asks is she OK. Kourtney replies, “I'm really dizzy, I don't think I can do it.” Jeff immediately stops the challenge and calls for the Survivor Medical Team. The medic begins to examine her wrist and ask Kourtney if she wiggle her fingers and bend her wrist, she is in severe pain to do so. Ramona, the medic, then explains to Jeff that she is unsure to the extent of Kourtney's injury and needs an x-ray to determine if her wrist is in fact broken. Jeff concedes and instructs the medics to take her for an x-ray. A decision about Kourtney's status in the game will be made later after she has the x-ray.

It is later revealed, at tribal council, that in fact Kourtney had broken her wrist in several places and required surgery. She is officially out the game. This make Kourtney the 9th contestant and for the first woman to exit the game due to medical reasons.

Now had Kourney remained in the game she could have easily done better than last place. Even though is was not in the 5 girl alliance of Alicia, Chelsea, Kim, Kat, and Sabrina she was better liked than some of the other women in her tribe. Like Christina for example who was not very liked for making bad deals with the men. Kourtney was a valuable member around camp. She weaved palm fronds for the roof of their shelter and the men. She also slaughtered one of the chickens when none of the others were willing to do it. She could have made it past a couple of the early votes, reached the merge and rolled with the women as they picked off the men one by one. I believe Kourtney could have ended in 9 or 10th place.
