Mike Skupin
Survivor: The Australian Outback
Spent 17 days in the game.
Finished in 11th Place
Mike Skupin, the software publisher from Michigan, was leader of his Kucha tribe. Although he tried to avoid this title and shy away from the leadership role his tribemates often referred to Mike as the leader and food provider. He did do all of the fishing for the tribe. To keep providing food, Mike was determined kill a wild pig and in what would be a controversial episode at the time, he got his wish.
Mike Kills Things
After visiting the first tribal council, the Kucha tribe did very well and did not visit tribal again until day 15. They would of had the numbers going into the merge, that was until tragedy struck. On day 17, while tending the fire, Mike inhaled too much smoke, passed out and fell into the fire. Mike screamed in pain and rushed into the nearby river. He had severely burned his hands and shoulder. His hat saved his face from being burned. The Survivor medical team rushed in and quickly assessed the situation, Mike had to be airlifted out. They wrap bandages around his burns and loaded him onto the stretcher. A short tearful goodbye with his tribemates and Mike was gone. The first contestant to be medically evacuated from the show.
Kucha would have been ahead going into the merge and they could have easily taken out their opposing tribe Ogakor. But I doubt Mike could have won the game. He didn't have any core alliance. He was the odd man out along with Nick Brown. Being so strong in challenges, he probably would have been the first Kucha voted out once all of Ogakor was gone. I believe he would have gone out in 6th place and made the Jury.
